Children Ministry

Welcome From The Senior Pastor

MISSION STATEMENT:

Here at Jericho, our mission statement is “Knowing Jesus and Making Him Known”. Mark 16:15 tells us to “go to all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation”. Our goal is to share God’s word in a way that children will come to know, love and serve him. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 tells us we are to love the Lord with all we are. It also states parents have the responsibility to teach their children God’s word. So we desire to partner with parents to disciple and train their children to be like Christ. Mark 10:45 tells us how Jesus came to serve others so our ministry will involve opportunities for children to serve others.

VISION AND GOALS:

The Children Ministry at JMI wants every child to hear God’s word, come to know him, develop a love and personal relationship with him, and learn to serve him. Our ministry will provide the best programs and events to glorify God and provide an environment that guides children to a lasting relationship with God. We seek to minister to the whole child. Each child needs to be physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Knowing that each child is unique and that God has gifted them to learn differently, our programs will provide numerous opportunities for them to learn using their intelligence. We will provide age appropriate bible studies and activities for children at their biblical learning level.

Understanding that parents have the responsibility to teach their children God’s word, we seek to partner with parents on this journey. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 explains the command that God gave to parents. Our ministry strives to support the parnts as each child’s primary spiritual leader. We want to challenge parents to be their children’s primary teachers and offer training, mentoring and tools needed to fulfill this role.

We want children living scripture not just learning scripture. In James 1:22, the Bible says “Be doers of the word not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” While we want children to hear and know God’s word, we must encourage children to apply God’s word to their everyday lives. Children need parents and leaders to model obedience themselves. Chiidren will be taught how to share their testimony and to reflect Christ in their daily life. Mark 10:45 tells us how Jesus came to serve. We will give them opportunities to serve in our Church and in the community. They also will be taught about missions locally and internationally.
